Teach Me How To Brushy

What a brilliant idea to take a mainstream song and revamp it into a routine that could easily have kids brushing for a long enough time to make an effective difference!  The tempo is perfect for developing good stroke technique as well, and in between the teeth cleaning is touched upon.Part of the biggest obstacle with children (ok in all fairness adults are probably equally guilty) is getting them to take the time to complete a routine without rushing.

Many hygienists have encouraged people to play their favorite song when brushing, because, generally speaking the typical length of a song is about 2 1/2 minutes.   The thing I love most about this video is the subtle seed it is planting about where and when you take care of your mouth

Here’s a big secret for you all (free of charge)…..get out of the bathroom in regards to your oral health routine!  I loved seeing flossy-mc-floss-alot flossing at the park, and the little dude brushing in front of the TV.  In fact, if more of us did just that, we would drastically improve the health of our mouths.  There is a slight disclaimer here; you have to use different tools.  Using the same toothbrush (and or floss) the same way everyday still leaves the same bacteria behind time after time (another great song by the way!!).

Bottom line, break up the monotony and blandness of your routine and you will see significant results, this I promise.  A Sulcabrush kept next to your computer or where you sit to watch TV could in fact be your very best friend.  Perhaps a glass of water followed by chewing on your toothbrush instead of snacking may help you lose 5 lbs or even stop a little one from getting a cavity, which by the way is now being seen in epidemic proportions L.

Thank you Oregon Dental Society for putting a positive spin on the one thing that most of us don’t really focus on enough.  Thinking outside the box really helps to bring health to a diseased topic.
