Rotadent and Tooth & Gums Tonic
Do you love that oh so fresh feeling that your mouth has just after you get your teeth cleaned? For the most part, I can safely say that after nearly 20 years of dentistry most peoples’ visit to the dentist is not the most pleasant part of their routine experiences. Throughout the years, I have strived to understand how products work, and to then help the patients I see adapt these products into their lifestyle. Understanding how to use these products has continued to be the biggest challenge for both myself and patients throughout years.
The Rotadent and Tooth and Gums Tonic in Conjunction
When I have the time allotted, and patients have the inclination, I always recommend the Rotadent, and Tooth and Gums Tonic in conjunction. The Rota dent is the only electric toothbrush on the market in which the bristles rotate in a full 360 rotation, and are silk filaments instead of nylon bristles.
This electric toothbrush is perfect for cleaning around implants, bridges and areas in between the teeth and under the gums. There is a lifetime warranty on the Rota dent, so as far as an investment into your dental future, it really does have a nice return. The Tonic is used as both a pre and post rinse. Dipping the head into the residual Tonic after your pre-rinse will allow you to clean your teeth and gums beautifully!2/3 of a Tbsp is all that is needed for each cleaning. Use 1/3 Tbsp to pre-rinse making sure to get a good gargle in.
This will assure The Tonic the opportunity to get to the back of the tongue where it can neutralize the bacteria, which is often the culprit of bad breath. Using the POINTED tip of the Rota dent will ensure that you are able to get in between the teeth and under the gums. The flat head is nice, but often does not get to many surfaces in reality.
Applying pressure to the pointed tip allows the bristles to flange out and you get the same results. Dip the toothbrush head into the remaining Tonic every few teeth to allow the teeth and the gums to be coated with Tonic. Rinse with the remaining tonic when you have finished brushing. If you notice foaming when using the Rota dent, it is simply the bacteria that is being stirred up, and the extreme tickling you may be feeling will dissipate soon as well!The Rotadent by far has the biggest learning curve of any other electric toothbrush.
That may account for why it’s been on the market for over 20 years and still has only a cult following. Once you get the hang of it you will more than likely agree that it is the best toothbrush you have used. Fear not if you fall off of the wagon for a bit, just like any change it takes a bit to make new habits.
